It;’s been a long time since I posted on my site and there has been much going on. Mainly I have decided to take voluntary redundancy from UCLan. It’s a little sad but I’m looking forward to the new challenges and to complete my Ph.D. It’s not something I had planned to do but when the opportunity arose I thought this would be a good time to do it and move on. I’m looking forward to working more in the outdoors and to develop further my skills of leadership and coaching. As an accredited strength and conditioning coach with the UKSCA and level 3 personal trainer, I’m looking forward to getting back into training and developing athletes and non-athletes in improving their physical and mental abilities as well as their health and fitness for longevity.
I shall still be lecturing up until the end of 2021 and I still have some commitments with TASS, the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme. I also have 1 Yorkshire three peaks to do as well and 1 National before the winter sets in, so I’m still busy. But I am looking at new projects for next year such as, what I am going to term ‘natural health and wellbeing for longevity.’ This is achieved by using exercise to help with mobility and strength for all levels of ability. Those who are still very active can learn about managing their health for a fuller and longer life, while others can rediscover their vitality and rejuvenate their wellbeing.
Coldwater immersion and natural swimming.
As some of you may have seen I have been outdoor swimming and dipping for the last couple of years. I have to thank my very good friend Mark Gray for introducing me to this most exhilarating way of keeping healthy and developing thermal regulation and cold exposure homeostasis. I have really enjoyed sea swimming and the natural environments (as well as some man-made) I have discovered and would like to help others with this as well. I have introduced some friends to this as well as Ellaine, my wife, to the joys of it too. If you are interested please drop me a line. I shall be posting regular updates as to where I have been or going to go as well.
Mobility exercise classes in Barnoldswick
I am also looking into delivering face-to-face strength, mobility, and flexibility classes in the local area. These will be, again, for all levels of ability, and hoping to also have as many of these outdoors as possible; so please watch this space and social media for more info.
Keep well and strong. Keith
